CMRT refers to Conflict Minerals Reporting Template. The purpose of the template is to collect sourcing information on Tantalum, Tin, Gold, and Tungsten, also known as 3TG, used in products. The CMRT is crucial for industries such as electronics, automotive, aerospace, jewelry, and other manufacturing sectors. Its role in promoting responsible sourcing and supply chain transparency contributes greatly to the upholding of ethical standards, protecting human rights, and promoting sustainable practices in these industries.
The CMRT template has become a common and easy format for the majority of companies to prove their Conflict minerals status in the business market.
To identify the origins of the minerals used in the products, the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) developed the CMRT template. RMI keeps updating the CMRT template revision regularly with more updated information.
Latest revision to the CMRT
On May 05, 2023, the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) released the latest version of CMRT – 6.3, adding another revision to its revision history.
What’s new in this updated version?
A few more changes were observed in the 3TG Questionnaire on the Declaration tab.
- When Question 1 is answered as “NO” for the presence of 3TG, the answer cells for the remaining 7 questions turn “Grey” and the option in the dropdown becomes blank.
- The dropdown option “100%” is missing in the answer cell for Question 6 – Tin which represents the percentage of the supplier response received when Tantalum is answered as “NO” for Question 1.
RMI has identified the above-reported issues on the Declaration tab of CMRT v.6.3, and these corrections will be included in the next CMRT version, version 6.31. RMI has not yet confirmed the release date, but it will be released shortly.
Are you using the old version (6.22) of CMRT for your Reasonable Country of Origin Inquiry (RCOI)? Not a problem!
The CMRT version 6.22 was the previous version adapted for the current year’s reporting.
Most of the supply chain conducted the survey and provided conflict minerals information in CMRT v.6.22. It is not mandatory to update the supply chain data in the new version. For current reporting, RMI recommends using CMRT version 6.01 or higher.
